After meeting Guy Davis at Heroes Con I was inspired to draw Abe Sapien from the BPRD books. This gives you an idea of the process…(left to right) I started with my memory of what Abe looked like, then looking at reference I worked out the middle piece before settling in on the far right piece. Did this one on a small scrap of cardboard.
