The process

Rich/Tom: Behold the power of Adobe Illustrator.

Tess: I'd noticed that I extruded the jaw a little in the profile of the skull, but I never thought that would read as simian. Of course now that I see it, I kinda dig it. . .

Anys, for the elaboration on the process, drill down:

A) Pencil sketch.




B) Vector path salad. I'll never actually see this part since I'll draw into the composition with unstroked, solid shapes underneath the above bitmap set to about 50% opacity. Lots of poking and proding and tweaking later and voila.

Thanks for the behind-the-scenes, Will. This would make a super cool silkscreen print, if you were ever so inclined. There's nothing like ink under the fingernails.
