This is a pin-up I did awhile back of my Herakles character. Next week I'll post some art from my ten page story. I've since scrapped the pages. I feel they weren't working and needed to be realized a bit more. I look forward to getting back into this world. I've always wanted to tell stories based on Greek culture. My heritage obviously. :-) I want these stories to be in the vein of Tin Tin or Asterix. Adventure for all ages. I know big talk, right? hee hee Enjoy.

Interesting. When looking at the black and white art last night I imagined those lizard things to be green. I like them red though. And Herakles' slippers rock! They're like slip-on shit kickers!

Hee hee yeah, they're supposed to be salamanders. There is a myth that they are guardians of fire and treasure. They an be born again like the phoenix. So, I thought it would be cool to have them guarding Medusa's lair. I like throwing symbolism in my stories. Even if no one gets it. heehee

I dig this, Herc! Everything rocks except the pale rust-red on the lizard-thingies. The fella on the tree at left is the coolest and his hue blends a bit too much into the branch, IMHO.

Nice character design. I like the way that the red salamanders harmonize with the harpy's hair! When you do more comics, it might be neat to do an end page referencing some of the myths they are actually based on. I recognized Medusa, but a lot of the rest of it went right past me...
You have got to put up that one long page of Herakles on the mountainside with all the salamanders as well!

Tom: yeah, I probably would change the color a little in the salamander and clean up some of the linework. You know hindsight..:-)
Tess: that is a great idea about having an index at the back of the stories. I will keep that in mind for when I do the actual book. I will definitely post that page as well as a few more.
